North Boone High School counselor Megan Nilson recently completed a prestigious three-day professional development program hosted by UC Berkeley and Stanford University.

Nilson was one of just 50 high school counselors from small-town and rural communities across the country selected to participate. The experience was fully funded by the STARS Tour and focused on expanding college access knowledge, building relationships with college admissions professionals, and learning new strategies to help students successfully pursue higher education.

"It was a valuable professional development opportunity and collaboration with other small-town counselors," said Nilson.

The knowledge and connections gained through this program will help North Boone students and families navigate the college admissions process with even greater confidence and support.
