Following a comprehensive search process, the North Boone School District #200 Board of Education is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Matthew Cascio as the district's new Superintendent. Dr. Cascio brings a wealth of experience and a student-centered approach to his new role, which he will officially assume on July 1, 2025.

Dr. Cascio is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Learning in Genoa-Kingston School District #424 in Genoa, IL. Previously, he served as the high school principal at Genoa-Kingston where he and his team moved the 9th grade on-track graduation rate from an average of 85% to 97%.

A group of stakeholders from across the district, including employees and parents, offered input and helped the Board of Education in their decision to choose Dr. Cascio. The board was particularly impressed with Dr. Cascio's demonstrated commitment to collaborative leadership and his track record of success in improving student outcomes. In the end, the Board of Education selected him for his student-centered focus, leadership, and passion for bringing educators and the community together around a problem of practice. “Dr. Cascio brings a remarkable amount of energy and leadership to this role,” said Ed Mulholland, Board of Education President.

Dr. Cascio emphasized his commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration and high expectations for all students. He plans to prioritize initiatives that support student well-being and prepare them for success in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Cascio grew up in the Rockford/Roscoe area and has essentially lived in northern Illinois his entire life. He graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in History and Teaching Education in 1998, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University in 2008, and a Doctorate of Education from Aurora University in 2021. The North Boone Board of Education enlisted Student-Centered Services to facilitate the superintendent search process. There will be an opportunity for parents, students, and community members to meet Dr. Cascio and learn more about his vision for the district at a future date.
